At Cross United Church of Christ, we explore questions and listen together for God's still-speaking voice, whether in worship or during fellowship. We believe that faith is an action we practice rather than a collection of ideas. To follow Jesus as our Christ is to practice love of God and neighbor, to do our best to "do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God."
In 2012, Cross entered into covenant with over 1800 other UCC churches as an "Open and Affirming" congregation. This means that we offer LGBTQ+ folks open welcome into the full life, ministry, and sacraments of the church, and we affirm their identities as beloved children of God.
Worship at Cross is traditional in terms of hymn selections and liturgical practices, but we engage Scripture and our faith with open hearts and minds, looking to the future. Currently we meet for worship twice a month, on the second and fourth Sundays. Communion is offered each second Sunday, and the sacrament is offered freely to all people, by God's grace.
As the building we inhabited undergoes major renovations, we find ourselves once more worshiping in each other's living rooms! It is lovely in its way, actually, but not particularly good for drop-in visits from new folks. We are working on finding a public space for Sunday services and will update accordingly.
Please reach out if you have any questions about Cross UCC. We would love to hear from you!
As a denomination, the United Church of Christ works to live into Jesus' prayer "that they may all be one," and asserts that God is still speaking. The UCC strives to unite Christians with diverse theologies and worship traditions through the shared belief that Christ is the sole head of the Church. Each local church, then, has full autonomy regarding the style and content of their worship services, ministries, and so on.
